Descripción del Artículo
Extremely rare, beautiful and unique this stunning piece features a lovely, wistful (and perhaps wind-blown) young woman standing in front of two tree stumps. The top of each stump has holes to receive flower stems and to add water. The stump to her right holds seven and the stump to her left holds five. Marked "Polomeme" on the bottom of the piece. Our research indicates this particular piece was made by Mrs. Susan Conrad, who also worked at KMA Radio in Iowa. An amazing piece of functional art that is equally stunning with or without flowers. No post studio damage noted - mint condition.
Information culled from internet articles states that this studio in Iowa, ran by potters Mrs. Susan Conrad and Mr. J. Edwin Sawhill went around the Midwest and U.S. demonstrating their craft in schools, events and fairs. The time period covered in various articles are from 1940 through 1960. All of the items were crafted from natural red Iowa clay. While we have found several examples of pitchers, bowls, mugs and pots we did not see anything like our lovely lass. Sure to be the crowning gem in any pottery collection.
