Vintage original complete set of 8 11x14 in. US lobby cards from the 1970's Hollywood-themed dramatic biopic, W.C. FIELDS AND ME, released in 1976 by Universal Pictures and directed by Arthur Hiller. Based upon the novel by Carlotta Monti and Bob Merrill, the story revolves around Monti's 14-year relationship with the famous comedian who was perhaps more famous for his reputation as an alcoholic than as an actor. This complete set of 8 lobby cards features great scenes from the film including Fields' famous sketch, The Dentist. The film's major characters are depicted which includes W.C. Fields (Rod Steiger), Carlotta Monti (Valerie Perrine), John Barrymore (Jack Cassidy), another legendary Hollywood alcoholic,and Florenz Ziegfeld (Paul Stewart). The border artwork at the left (which is featured on the film's one-sheet poster) depicts Fields in one of his most recognizable costumes holding a cocktail with an head shot of Carlotta Monti below him. Printed for the film's original 1976 U.S. theatrical release by Universal Pictures, this complete set of 8 lobby cards is unrestored in very fine+ condition. There are no pinholes, tears, stains, or other flaws. The only actual incident from Carlotta Monti's book that was used in the movie was when Monti sprayed a hose on W.C. Fields' tin roof to simulate the sound of a waterfall. Karen Black turned down the role of Carlotta Monti.
