Vintage Maine Public Television "Quest: Investigating Our World" Science Series coffee mug. Slogan on front reads, "Investigating the World We Call Maine." Vintage 1990s. Measures 3.75" high. Condition: Excellent, appears unused, with no chips or cracks. Comments: Quest: Investigating Our World was a popular science series produced by Maine Public Broadcasting Corporation. It first premiered in 1995 and became the most-watched locally produced series on Maine PBS. The show focused on intriguing and entertaining stories about nature and science in Northern New England, covering disciplines such as biology, earth science, engineering, geography, chemistry, mathematics, and environmental science. The series aimed to update the image of rural regions and industries in Northern New England, demonstrating the sophistication of scientific pursuits and applications in these areas. It was also the first regional public television science series funded by the National Science Foundation. The show featured a variety of episodes, including topics like wilderness exploration, seasonal changes in animal and plant life, satellite imagery for natural disaster information, and the impact of food on our health. The series was hosted by Linda Greenlaw, a best-selling writer and Maine fisherman, and narrated by Lang Elliot, a photographer, writer, and nature sound recordist.
