Vintage original 11x14 in. US lobby card from the classic 1970's British horror film, THEATRE OF BLOOD, released in 1974 by United Artists and directed by Douglas Hickox. Vincent Price stars as a Shakespearean actor who takes poetic revenge on the critics who denied him recognition. The cast includes Diana Rigg, Ian Hendry, Harry Andrews, Coral Browne, Robert Coote, Jack Hawkins, Michael Hordern, Arthur Lowe, Robert Morley, and Dennis Price. As indicated in the center of the bottom border, this is lobby card #4 from the set of 8 cards. The image depicts an intense scene with theatre critic Hector Snipe (Dennis Price) strapped to a chair inside of a burning theatre as he's about to be killed by the wheeled object moving towards him as the police race down the aisle to save him. It is unrestored in near-fine condition with various creases on the top left corner; signs of wear in the borders; and very small signs of wear in the black background from handling over time. There are no pinholes, tears, stains, or other flaws. Provenance: The Collection of Ronald V. Borst (as indicated by his rubber stamp on the verso). Mr. Borst published a book on his world-class collection of horror, sci-fi, and fantasy films entitled Graven Images. Vincent Price considered Theatre of Blood to be his personal favorite of all of his films while Diana Rigg regarded it as her best film.
