This is a vintage 8x10 in. U.S. single-weight glossy restrike photograph (not a vintage original photograph printed at the time it was taken but which was printed from the original negative at a later time) from the classic silent film horror drama/romance, THE UNKNOWN, released in 1927 by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and directed by Tod Browning. A criminal on the run (Lon Chaney) hides in a circus and seeks to possess the beautiful daughter (Joan Crawford) of the ringmaster at any cost. The image features a dramatic interior shot inside of a circus wagon as the owner of the circus (Nick Ruiz) brutally beats a dwarf, Cojo (John George), one of the performers. Printed most likely in the 1950's or 1960's, this vintage restrike photograph was printed from the original negative, so it features extremely sharp detail and great contrast. It is in fine- condition with numerous vertical lines down the photo that are visible when holding it at an angle (which seems to have occurred during the printing process) which are really unobtrusive. There are no pinholes, tears, stains, or other flaws.
