A perennial for zones 6 to 11 Gazania create large variegated flower heads in a range of colors from yellow to red to purple. You can also start them in pots 6 weeks before your last frost. Like direct sowing plant then 1/4" deep and keep your soil around 70 degrees until germination. After you last frost transplant them into a dry area of your garden. Gazania can tolerate very high heat and minimal watering.
