Descripción del Artículo

EASTERN RED COLUMBINE. The Columbine is an easy plant to grow because it adapts itself to a wide variety of conditions. Columbines do best when they are grown in moist, rich, well-drained soil in light shade. These one- to three-foot-high plants generally begin blooming in early to mid-spring and will often continue through June if the flowers are removed as they fade. Columbines are one of a Hummingbird's favorite flowers, and are excellent additions to the rock garden, or as a native woodland planting. They tend to cross-pollinate, hybridize, and self-seed freely, creating new strains and colors. 100+ Quality heirloom seeds. Thank You! Some American Native Wildflower seeds need to go through a cold winter to germinate. This plant is one of them. They do this so the seed won’t sprout in fall, only to have the seedling not make it through a cold winter. I have stratified these seeds to simulate a cold winter(stratification) This raises the germination rate considerably. Thanks for looking!! Aquilegia canadensis. Perennial. Full sun / P. Sun. Spring, soil temp 65F+. SOW Press seeds lightly into soil about 4" apart. Keep moist. Germinates in 14 - 28 days. Thin to 16". Height 24 - 36" x 16" Wide. Medium water. Light fertilizer. Flowers are red. Blooms from mid-spring through early summer.
