The plants have slender, Iris-like leaves, and 2", glistening flowers that are short-lived, only lasting one day, but multiple flowers will continue to bloom on each 12-20" stem. In mild climates the bulbs will be evergreen, and can bloom from early spring well into late fall, especially when not allowed to set seed, or to ever dry out. In my cool northern California coastal climate, I grow the plants in large pots, and the plants only go dormant for a very short period of time in winter, even though they receive rain and stay constantly moist. Requires full sun in well-drained soil, and the richer the soil, the happier the plant. Hardy zones 9 and up, the corms will need to be protected from hard freeze.
