Features a brown wool upper body and a stiff russet brown fiber visor, with the underside in green. The stitching on the visor is tight. It includes a russet brown chinstrap. The brown leather chinstrap is also held in place by side buttons. The brown leather sweatband remains intact, and supple. Double vent grommets on each side are intact. The one-piece gilt eagle insignia is original to the cap. The cap device is one piece construction, screw back with thumb screw which dates from 1926-1937. The interior displays the original celluloid sweat shield which displays ?Post Exchange, FORT MEYER. ROSSLYN VA.? Marked Size 6. The soldiers initials ?GES? are marked both on the outside and inside of the leather sweatband. The visor does display some wear from the soldier?s hands when he took the visor on and off. The olive drab wool body of the cap is quite clean, no moth nips, stains, or damage. There is a small pinhole on the right side of the brim.
