Just above and to the left of the sailing ship reads: SEGELSCHULSCHIFF "GORCH FOCK" Across the top reads; VEREINIGUNG NOCH FUNKENDER EHEMALIGER MARINEFUNKER and to the right side below the anchor reads: M.F. RUNDE Although I do not understand what any of this says, I did do some research and learned that; GORCH FOCK, is a training vessel of the German Navy, and some time, I think in the 1970's a Amateur Radio Clubstation was established aboard the Sailing Vessel as well as numerous other German Navy vessels. This simple QSL card is filled with Historical significance, both in the year it was sent and the references to the German Navy, Amateur Radio Operator History and International Museum Ship Radio Membership. Radio amateurs of the German Federal Republic who in the past used to serve in radio communication of the German navy, established the group “Marinefunker-Runde”, (M.F. Runde)or, “Still operating former navy radio operators group”. The title "1st Funkmeister of MF-Runde" is awarded each year to the best active participants in MF-Runde radio nets and MF-Runde radio events. An Amateur Radio Museum was founded in 1981 by amateur radio pioneer Hans Schleifenbaum, DL1YA †. The Foundation has been dedicated to the research and documentation of the history of amateur radio and its technology. So he has been active for many years and shows its exhibits on many exhibitions. The honorary members and supporters of the association restored and document old amateur radio equipment and then Imagine in appropriate museums and exhibitions to the interested public. The AFM is a resource of history of amateur radio. The Association Amateur Radio Museum e. V. has its headquarters in Grafing (near Munich).
