37'' Wooden Walking Cane with Fun Inlaid Stone Bird Design, Strong Braced Handle This unique, heavy duty diamond willow wood cane with braced handle is inlaid with several polished stones that look like a fun, quirky bird when you look at it straight on. I did something a little different with the handle of this one when I left a little bit of the inside of the bark on it to give it some contrasting lighter and darker brown colored streaks. The wood of the main leg has markings that are unusual even for diamond willow, with many gorgeous caramel and reddish brown colors. The braced handle is a design I invented to make my canes able to bare greater weight. Top is smooth and comfortable. Any diamonds on the side don't impede, but rather make great finger guides. MAX. As a GENERAL rule, walking canes should be about elbow height or 2-4" below...give or take a few inches. ? But preferences vary, sooo..... ? If you've never had a walking cane, measure while wearing ??walking shoes, have your arms hang at your side. Note where your elbow is at. Measure from the floor to your elbow, and subtract a couple of inches. ABOUT MAX WEIGHT. _________________________ The MAX. WT. of 450 lbs. is just a guess. This can probably hold more weight, but I wouldn't want to guarantee that since this is wood, and I'm "only" 200 lbs. and test each stick to make sure it's sturdy and doesn't bend, but I can't test for much more weight than I am myself. The main weakness of most handmade canes is how the handle is attached, but this handle is reinforced so it's extra strong and you don't have to worry about the handle breaking off if you bear down with all your weight on the end of the handle that is not directly over the leg. DISCLAIMER: Since this is wood, and we're not a factory, I make no guarantees about the future condition of this walking stick, but CAN GUARANTEE it was strong without any large cracks when I harvested, cured, coated, listed, and packed it for shipping after it sells, inspecting it at each step along the way. However, PLEASE INSPECT ALL YOUR EQUIPMENT before each use to make sure no cracks or weaknesses have developed over time. Stay safe! EMBELLISHMENTS ______________________ 7 stones have been artfully embedded into this already amazing piece for a little extra flair: 1 red jasper 1 tiger's eye 2 green aventurines 2 green chalcedony 1 green jasper The 2 jaspers were ones I've found (in N. Minn.) and polished in a rock tumbler myself. All have been glued in with strong epoxy glue, after digging out a bit of a depression the exact shape of each stone. NATURAL MARKINGS ________________________ No stains, paints or colors added__just fives coats of clear poly finish. The natural colors are spectacular, looking so much better in person than I'm able to capture with photos. DIAMONDS: Covered with an exceptional array of diamonds, with all sorts of wonderful twisting curves and a variety of tan, caramel, dark brown and reddish brown colors. Several of the diamonds look like one because they're several that have run into each other. This stick has a few particularly deep diamonds (difficult to capture in photos) that are beautiful alone, and perfect for embedding more stones or charms into them, if you wish. INSECT MARKINGS: Has a few insect and/or worm hole markings on this stick. Worm and other insect markings are actually coveted, as they are more rare than diamonds themselves. They help create a unique design, character to the stick, and add another dimension to the story of how efficient nature works. The worms or insects have long disappeared since I dry my sticks for several months, then sand and coat with poly. A very unique piece with great character.
