Vintage original 8 x 10 in. single-weight glossy photograph from the 1930's British sabotage-themed crime thriller, SABOTAGE, released in 1936 by Gaumont British Distributors and directed by Alfred Hitchcock. The image depicts four men as they react from the discovery that sand was put inside of the large generator by a saboteur to render it useless. This photograph was printed with the film's original title of The Woman Alone, which was subsequently rubbed-out. It is in fine+ condition. A Scotland Yard undercover detective is on the trail of a saboteur who is part of a plot to set off a bomb in London. But when the detective's cover is blown, the plot begins to unravel. Based on Joseph Conrad's novel "The Secret Agent," this sports a different title, as Alfred Hitchcock's previous film was called Secret Agent (1936), which was based on stories by W. Somerset Maugham. In the Alfred Hitchcock and François Truffaut Interview Book (page 76), Hitchcock revealed that Robert Donat was supposed to play Ted, but Alexander Korda refused to release him. When John Loder was cast as Ted, Hitchcock felt that he wasn't suitable for the role, so he was forced to re-write the dialogue during the shooting.
