Seller Notes:
“PLEASE SEE ITEM DESCRIPTION FOR COMPLETE DETAILS”
Offered here is this amazing, salvaged Lot of 30 Pale Yellow Clay American Encaustic Tiles. I am unsure of exact age of the tiles; however, they were original to the home that they were salvaged from and most likely date to the 1930s. This tile is made of a vitrified clay, and has a beautiful, pale-yellow color that is a bit darker than it appears in the photos. The tiles are 4.25" tiles and .25" thick but do have some small breakage on some of them, as can be seen in the photos. It is an amazing, salvaged lot of tiles from The Frederick Estate in Altadena California. This tile is in good condition; however, it does have some of the mortar still attached to the back of some of the tiles. There are a few very small areas around the outer perimeter of the tile where the glaze has been chipped during the salvage process. The glaze on the front of the tile is a bit worn in a few places, but the colors are still quite vibrant, and, for a tile that is almost 100 years old, it is incredible. The tile was photographed outside in natural light. The last photo is of what they looked like before they were removed, to give an idea of the color, although the majority of the photos are a more accurate depiction of their color. It is a gorgeous salvaged antique tile lot in a great vintage color.
