This is an antique mahogany lap desk measuring 16 1/2" x 10 1/4" x 5 1/4" high. The top and front are decorated with delicate carved swirls and inlaid bone (about 80 pieces on top and 50 more on the front). It has a functioning lock and the skeleton key is included. When opened the top full panel and bottom 2/3 panel are leather covered. Both panels lift to reveal storage space. 1/3 of the bottom has spaces built for ink bottles and pens and quills. The bottom space has 2 hidden drawers behind a lifting wall panel. This lap desk is in very good condition.
