This is an ORIGINAL ANTIQUE CROSS PENDANT that was made during the MID VICTORIAN PERIOD around c1860 and it is of EUROPEAN ORIGINS. It is handmade from 18K GOLD and it has a very heavy patina, as seen in the photos, which illuminates it's age. The cross is prong-set with 9 OLD MINE CUT DIAMONDS of J color, I clarity that weigh approx. .30 ctw. These diamonds are in the .03 - .04 ct range. The cross is also set with 16 ROSE CUT DIAMONDS that have a .01 - .02 ct spread each, weighing approx. .10 ctw. The rose cut settings have closed backs so they have a gray color. The total diamond weight is approx. .40 ctw. The cross is also set with 7 NATURAL PEARLS that measure 5.12 to 6.20 mm. It is my personal opinion that one or two of these pearls may be replacements. The cross is detailed with BLACK ENAMEL and it has a large bale that can accommodate a chain up to 6 mm thick. The connecting loop to the bale has an opening in the gold and I believe it was made this way, rather than broken. The cross measures 2.5? long, including the bale, by 1-7/16? wide.
