It does have a split in the wood that runs from the thigh of the woman to her neck, but it does not go all the way through the wood. I am unsure of its age. It seems to be carved from a single piece of wood and has amazing detail. It is from India, and I believe that it may have some religious significance. I do not know the type of wood that it is carved from. The piece is felted on the bottom. The piece is 7.5? tall and is 1.75? by 2? in diameter.
