Descripción del Artículo
Title- “Croquet on the lawn”- the ad shows a group playing croquet in somebody's back yard and enjoying a few glasses of beer. It was illustrated by Haddon Sundblom and is number 20 in the series “Home Life in America.”
History- by Jay R. Brooks of the Brookston Beer Bulletin- During the final year of the war, the United States Brewers Foundation (USBF) created an advertising campaign to promote beer as “America’s Beverage of Moderation.” The campaign was known as “Beer Belongs” and began in 1945, though in 1946 it began numbering the ads as a part of a series entitled “Home Life in America.” It lasted more than a decade, with the last numbered ad being produced in 1956. Well-known artists and illustrators of the day were commissioned to paint idyllic works showing an idealized post-war America enjoying their post-war prosperity in a variety of settings, but with beer, naturally, at the center of it all. The ads are strikingly beautiful in most cases, and are some of the best examples of commercial illustration from the time period.
Dimensions- 10 1/4 x 14 inches
Condition- Excellent.
Most of the ads in my booth are from tabloid-sized magazines, measuring about 10 x 14 inches. The ads are shipped flat in rigid envelopes reinforced with cardboard inserts and, because of their large size, these ads are expensive to mail. Shipping cost in the USA and Canada is $9 US per order. The good thing is the shipping cost is per order and not per ad. The cost is the same no matter how many ads you buy, if you buy them at the same time.
?Buyers outside of North America please contact us for an exact shipping quote.
All of the magazine ads I have listed are guaranteed to be 100% authentic originals, carefully removed from the original magazine.
