VTG Hand Painted Porcelain Vase Sgraffito Floral Motif by Bequet Belgium 10.5?H. This footed trumpet shaped vase was made in Belgium by H. Bequet in Quaregnon, Belgium circa the 1960s. The hand painted vase with white ground has a satin black banding on top and foot, with colorful floral designs in blue, purple, yellow and orange, and green encircling a translucent matte black central panel, and finished with gold accents. It is in very good to excellent condition. There is a small chip on the rim's edge and several areas on the rim where the gold chipped and was touched up. It has been cleaned, but a few scuffs may remain. Please see all photos for more detail on condition. Measurements: 10 1/2"H x5 3/4"W at rim Weight: 2 lbs 2 oz Bequet was known his colorful, high-quality ceramic pieces with gold rims, majestic forms and bright colors. He opened his ceramics production factory in 1934 in Quaregnon. The apex of success for the factory was in 1963 when it employed 150 workers, but eventually closed its doors when the pottery and its director then began to experience various problems. The large factory closed in December 1982. Hubert Bequet did however continue to produce pottery in a small workshop, ?The Ceramics of Borinage?, until April 1985 before closing for good.
