Complete set of mid-century anthropomorphic Norcrest Cat of the Month figurines. Individually, they are scarce; a complete set is truly rare, which is why I have chosen to offer them together. Single figures frequently go for near $100, sometimes more, even with some damage. To collect the whole set would take some time, and I'm not certain it would cost any less in the end. Overall, these are in much better shape than many I've seen. As collectors know, these were marketed as cheap cheerful trinkets, so they were not made with the exacting production standards applied at, say, the Lladro factory, and many who owned them did not treat them as priceless collectibles. Most of this set still have their tiny JAPAN stickers on the base. I gave them a very gentle water-only cleaning, but didn't scrub at all and carefully cleaned around the stickers. These all have typical crazing, and **with two exceptions, as described below,** they are free of damage or repairs. March and August have chips, which are the most noteworthy flaws among the set. Some have minor production flaws such as spots where the airbrush spit, little nicks pimples under the glaze that happened during unmolding, etc. (I have noted only a few such issues below; please rely on the photos for a thorough accounting.) January February ** mark on rear of base looks like pen at first glance but is under the glaze; it must've happened when stamping the month on. ** March ** left ear is chipped, see 18th photo. ** April May ** three tiny white spots at the center of the rose; may be paint loss, or may just be that the brush skipped there, I can't tell which. ** June ** dark spots between tail and haunch on front and back are dirt I missed during cleaning; once I noticed them, a gentle wipe took them right off. ** July August ** chip to left ear, some paint loss to right lens of sunglasses; see 19th 20th photos. ** September October November December ** paint loss to peak of hat, see very last photo. In this case, the tiny specks between tail and haunch are NOT dirt. I assume they are flaws in or under the glaze since they did not come off in cleaning. ** Will be packed with GREAT care, insurance included.
