Descripción del Artículo

Completely gorgeous antique Satsuma egg in the style of Moriage or raised decorations. Hand painted, exquisitely performed. The same scene repeated on two sides being five lovely ladies. There is no damage. The photos are to the best of our ability; they came out a little hot and the colors are not so vivid. Also the background at top is an eggshell white not pale yellow, that is just how the photos came out but there is not the slightest doubt of quality, there is no finer home art china than Satsuma. Unusual Satsuma stamp which appears pressed into the underglaze as the gilding goes over a small bit of it. The gilding in general is more lavish than most similar pieces. So is the design in general, it is one of the more extravagant small Satsuma pieces I have ever seen. Question: Was it ever in a smoking home? Answer: They were ALL smoking homes for most of the life of this piece. I have not cleaned it in any way. If you wanted to spend a few idle minutes with some q-tip swabs and some alcohol it might clean up - I am not saying it is dirty or anything, I am just saying it might be improved. This is a really special piece and you ought to not mess around; it is worth investing in. See shipping calculator for rates to your address.
