CIRCA 1903-1904, RHODE ISLAND MILITIA, MARKSMAN MEDAL, PISTOL, NAMED
Rhode Island Militia RIM Marksman ladder badge. Pinback, reverse of bars are engraved 1903 and 1904 respectively. Medal is engraved J. V. Hullard / Sergt. / Battery A. Lt. Art. A very fine example.
J. V. Hullard who served in the Rhode Island Militia during the American Civil War. He was a sergeant in Battery A, 1st Rhode Island Light Artillery. He was born in Providence, Rhode Island in 1843 and died in 1914. He is listed in the book "History of the First Rhode Island Light Artillery" as having served in the regiment from 1861 to 1865.
Born in Providence, Rhode Island on February 15, 1843.
He was the son of John V. Hullard and Eliza A. Hullard.
He was a carpenter by trade.H
He enlisted in the Rhode Island Militia on April 20, 1861.
He was assigned to Battery A, 1st Rhode Island Light Artillery.
He served in the regiment for the duration of the war.
He was discharged from the service on June 15, 1865.
He died in Providence, Rhode Island on February 22, 1914.
