Cuban oregano or plectranthus amboinicus synonym Plectranthus amboinicus, is a semi-succulent herbaceous tropical plant in the family Lamiaceae with a pungent flavor and odor. It is thought to have originated in india. This herb has traditional medicinal uses in asian cultures. The leaves are large, thick and stiff and grow in pairs opposite each other on the stem. Cuban oregano grows best in a part-sun or part-shade location. Inside the house, it grows best in a bright, sunny window but tolerates less light if needed. It is a drought tolerant plant, requiring good drainage and can be watered 1-2 times per week. It loves humidity but does not tolerate temperatures lower than 40 degrees. It is a prolific grower, plan to change its container in a few months, if growing in one. It does not attract many pests except for spider mites and mealy bugs.
