This Dutch art deco style picture frame, made of silverplate and copper, is an exceptional piece for collectors of antique decorative items. Its intricate repousse design depicts scenes of Dutch life and adds a touch of history to any space. Measuring 14 inches in height and 11 inches in width, this frame is suitable for a single 8x10 inch photo. Very heavy (over 3 pounds) and too heavy for the stand attached to the backing as it has bent and will not support the weight. We recommend an actual lucite picture stand for better security in display. The pictorial scenes are made with what appears to be underlying copper and layered over with Silverplate but as such to allow the copper to stand out. It?s very striking and was very dirty and oxidized when we purchased at a recent estate sale. We have put in a good couple hours cleaning and polishing it back to its current condition. We even were able to clean most of the glass but should it break in shipping note it?s a very easily obtained 8X10 inch piece of glass and likely not original as it feels too thin to something that might have been made in the 1930s.
