Descripción del Artículo

This is a Early CDV Photo Military Portrait. Please see my photos for a better idea of the state of the item. Please let me know if you have any questions or want more pictures! A CDV photo, or carte de visite, is a small photographic portrait mounted on cardstock, measuring approximately 2.5 by 4 inches. Introduced in the 1850s by French photographer Andre Adolphe-Eugene Disderi, CDVs quickly became a popular format for portrait photography throughout the 19th century. The photographs were typically albumen prints, created using a thin paper photograph mounted on a thicker card. These images often depicted individuals, families, or prominent figures and were commonly exchanged or collected in specially designed albums. The compact and affordable format made CDVs accessible to a wide audience, contributing to their widespread use during the Victorian era.
