U.S. WWI CANTEEN (MOD. 1910?) DATED 1918 BY L.F. C WITH A 1917 DATED COVER. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the case was originally a "mounted" accessory. Also I note canteen cover are both marked U.S.D.I. Your guess as probably better than mine.
