Descripción del Artículo

GERMANY Pick#..................... 70a Bankote Book # 235a - multiple prefix before serial numbers available. Advise if you have a preference Denomination ..... 10,000 Mark Date...................... 1922 Condition?...?. Fine Comments?....... Male portrait (by Albrecht Dürer) on front. The actual painting is the 3rd image. German eagle on reverse. Watermark "10000" "M" (5th image) A sore spot after WW II was the Alsace and Lorraine areas annexed to France from Germany. It is no coincidence that the Alsace and Lorraine regions were annexed back to Germany when France signed armistice with France in June 1940. Several examples of a German depicted on 10,000 Marks notes exist. Whether on purpose or not, the portrait appears as a ghoul when held on its side, 90 degrees counterclockwise (5th image). The ghoul is seen as the French, sucking the blood from Germany by robbing Germany of these land regions. Even the "cap" and "tunic" look French in appearance. Image is not exact note in lot.
