Descripción del Artículo

Fresh Seeds inside US, Fast shipping The Green Ash is a native woodland tree with an upright, oval form and bright green, compound leaves. The leaves turn bright yellow in the autumn. It has the largest growing range of any of the native ashes, extending from Nova Scotia to Alberta south to Florida and Texas. This is a lowland species that is commonly found in woods and floodplains and along streams and ponds. It is a medium sized tree, typically growing 50-70? tall. Young trees are pyramidal in shape, gradually maturing to a more rounded but usually irregular crown. Green ash is primarily dioecious (separate male and female trees). Clusters of apetalous purplish male and female flowers appear on separate trees in April-May after the foliage emerges. Fertilized female flowers give way to drooping clusters of winged samaras (to 2? long) that ripen in fall and may persist on the tree throughout winter. Features odd-pinnate compound leaves, each with 5-9 leaflets. Oval to oblong-lanceolate leaflets (3-4? long) are medium green above and below. Gray-brown bark develops distinctive diamond-shaped ridging on mature trees. As with white ash, the wood of green ash is commercially used for a variety of products including tool handles, oars, garden furniture and sports equipment. It is easily grown in average, medium wet, well-drained soils in full sun. Prefers consistently moist, humusy loams, but established trees demonstrate adaptibility to a wide range of soils and growing conditions. Botanical Name : Fraxinus pennsylvanica Common Name : Green Ash Height : 50- 80 ft Spread : 50 ft Germination Info : Seed requires 30-60 days warm stratification followed by 60-120 days cold stratification Hardiness zone : 3-7 Growing Instructions The seeds have a period of dormancy. They can be planted outdoors in the fall or winter for spring germination or they can be cold stratified to simulate winter conditions and to break their dormancy at any time of the year. 1. Place the seeds in a plastic bag and seal it. Store the bag in a refrigerator for two months. 2. Fill a pot with potting soil. 3. Sow the seeds on the soil and cover them with a thin layer of soil. 4. Water the container and leave it to drain. 5. Put the pot in a warm, sunny area. 6. Water the pot regularly so that the soil is moist but not wet. 7. The seedlings can be transplanted when they are a few inches tall. Customer Service: Your success is our success.
