The leather is sound and supple. Adjustable. The leather slide is intact. A key identifier of the M1874 belt is this cast brass rectangular buckle. This was a standard buckle for enlisted men and non-commissioned officers. Very fine and crisp detail on this belt plate. The U.S. Army's Model 1874 waist belt was a standard piece of equipment for both foot soldiers and mounted troops during the Indian Wars period (roughly 1866-1897). The M1874 belt, or variations of it, remained in service for a significant period, well into the 1890s and even up to the changeover to russet leather equipment around 1902.
