10 inch long monkey wrench ( pre crescent wrench development) used for hexagonal and square nuts and bolts. Probably not used for round pipe as no serrations on the jaws to grip . Jaw opening 1 7/8 inches, 1 inches deep . Still opens and closes smoothly. Overall the tools shows scuffing, chips and markings typical for it’s age and use. The leather wrap handle, flat not rounded head suggests it comes from early 1800’s patents. No casting identification marks . The leather wrap handle has a tightening nut on the end suggests it’s maker was L. Coes Co. Worcester ,Mass. Most wrenches of this type/age had cheaper wooden handles.
