It is used, but in very good condition, with no chips or cracks, although there is some light wear to the painted finish, particularly at a few of the edges, and there are some unfinished areas underneath, where they would not be visible. The shelf is painted to look like bronze, but it is made of molded plaster. I am unsure of its age or origins. It is 9" from top to bottom, 9" from side to side, with the shelf space on top being 8" wide and 3.75" deep. This is a wonderful decorative piece, and is both beautiful, and functional.
