A beautiful, heavy white glass dish. This piece was produced by the Fenton Art Glass Company in their iconic Hobnail pattern, a highly popular design known for its bumpy, textured surface. It is made of milk glass, a translucent to opaque white glass, often used for decorative and functional items. The rectangle shape with a scalloped edge suggests it was designed as a planter, perfect for displaying flowers or plants. However, its versatile form also allows it to be repurposed as a serving dish for things like relish, candy, or nuts. The Fenton Hobnail pattern, especially in milk glass, was a significant part of mid-century modern decor, introduced in 1939 and particularly popular in the 1940s, 50s, and 60s.
