This handcrafted mask is a life-size limited edition piece. This mask represents an individual who lived between 1800 and 1890s. His face paint was his signature, all could be identified from a great distance. The mask is paired with pelts and beads that would have been available in the area of North American where this man lived. The face is ceramic, the eyes are life-like, and the pelts are all natural. This ceramic wall hanging depicts the image (the face paint, breast plate, etc) of the individual that the artist is describing, in this case the Assiniboine Indian Walking Wolf Warrior. The Assiniboine warriors were known as Walking Wolves and were fierce fighters. The Assiniboine tribes were always warring with the Sioux Indians in the past, but combined the tribal nations after making peace. The Assiniboine Indian nation shares a reservation with the Sioux Indian nation in the upper northeast corner of Montana. This fabulous mask depicts the colors of the Walking Wolf warrior along with the grey pelts and trimmings. The breastplate is accented with beads and feathers.
