Great example of the destruction of Japanese manufacturing during WWII and the post war environment of trying to make something to sell. These crude ceramics are a indication of the need to make cheap Bric-a-Brac/souvenirs/Knick Knacks for the lowly paid occupying troops to buy and send back home. The Elephant ash tray is a collectible representations of that era in Japan as is the Monkey . If you are into collecting Elephant or Monkey figurines this is also a great addition.
