- Up for sale is oregon grapeholly, holly leaved barberry, mahonia aquifolium. 50 seeds. - Mahonia are often called holly-leaved barberries since they are in the barberry family but look much like holly shrubs. - They are well suited to shady spots in your garden or landscape and are popular as privacy hedges because of their architectural, dramatic appearance. - The floral sprays are fragrant golden yellow blooming in late winter to early spring and are attractive to pollinators like bees and butterflies. - The blueish berries are edible and taste like black currant. They also appeal to various birds that may take refuge in the thick foliage. - Berries provide food for birds. - Mahonia will grow in any soil, sandy, loamy, clay and any ph. - Perennial hardy - Zone: 5-8. They can get as low as 5 degrees f. - Light: low sun. - Soil: rich, well-drained soil to any variety of soil or ph. - Moisture: regular. They will tolerate low watering. - Height: 6-10' tall. - Width: 4'-7' wide. - Bloom time: late spring.
