His own son, also named Pat Rooney (b. 1909) and following in his family's musical footsteps, then became Pat Rooney Jr. This Pat Rooney performed in a vaudeville team with his own son, and also appeared on Broadway stages for over a half a century, beginning with In Atlantic City (1898) and ending with Guys and Dolls (1950-1953). In the latter hit, he played Sarah Brown's Salvation Army mentor, Arvide Abernathy, singing the sentimental "More I Cannot Wish You" ( a song omitted from the film version).
