ROYAL COPENHAGEN 1932 Christmas Plate Frederiksberg Gardens with Statue of Frederik VI is the subject of the 1932 Royal Copenhagen Christmas Plate. It shows the statue of Frederik VI located in Frederiksberg Gardens just outside Copenhagen. The statue was modeled in 1855 by the famous Danish sculptor Herman Wilhelm Bissen. The design was created by Oluf Jensen, a collectable artist in his own right. It is embossed on Danish porcelain and hand painted in traditional Copenhagen blue under the glaze. The inscription includes the date 1934 and the word JUL -- the Danish word for CHRISTMAS (pronounced like the English work YULE). Diameter approximately 7 1/4 inches. Appropriately marked on the back, including the three wavy line trademark of Royal Copenhagen. Pierced foot for hanging wire.
