Descripción del Artículo

Vintage Hard To Find Stewart Warner A61P3 Flip Front, Lunch Box, 6 Tube Portable Radio Operates On: Alternating Current, Direct Current and Rechargable Battery fro Nine to 90 Volts DC This collectable pre-1940 AM Band Stewart Warner Flip-Front , Wooden Case, Lunch Box radio is very unusual and hard to find! I’ve seen it on only one collector’s site. My research shows that this model began production in the 1930’s and production was minimal during World War II due to the shift into war effort manufacturing. The dates in ours indicate it was pre-war. The radio has flip down doors for both the user control panel and to access the rear cord storage compartment. (Maybe it’s also the battery compartment.) The chasis slides out for service. This radio runs on “117 Volts” A/C or DC. It also runs on 9 - 90 volt batteries. The radio’s rated wattage is 45. The charging circuit for the battery is in the radio. There is a dial on the user’s control panel to select Charging, A/C or Battery. The radio also has a flashing neon light to indicate the battery charging status. Ours is hand dated in two places. I believe those dates are from repair people. One is 1940 and one is 1941. I don’t know the date that the radio was built. All six tubes are present. The Cabinet is sturdy, the Handle is good. The knobs are excellent, with the words still legible. No knobs are seized to the stems. The all can come off. And, believe it or not, the Dial Drive Cord is still good and working. There are more condition notes below. TUBES- (1) 1A7GT (2) 1N5GT (1) 3Q5GT (2) 35GZ5GT Rectifier Tubes SCHEMATIC ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURE[ I’ll include a copy of the schematic and a sheet with the procedure to adjust the Stage Gain and Alignment Socket Voltages. It explains the charging circuit as well. THIS RADIO IS UNTESTED- The cord is very frayed, so I chose to leave the testing to you who know more about these things than I ever will know. KNOWN GLITCHES- The power cord is very frayed. (It’s 18/2 SPT cord with a molded, non-polarized plug.) There is no battery, nor is there a cord for the battery. (I think it goes in the receptacle seen at the right end of the rear view photo of the chassis.) The 5” speaker cone has a small missing piece and a tear. (Visible in photo.) The chassis mounting screws don’t look alike, therefore one is not original. The cabinet has normal scuffs shows its age. (See photos ask for more, if desired.) DIMENSIONS- The cabinet width is 13-1/4” The Front-to-rear depth tapers from 6” to 6-1/2” at the top The case is 10-1/2” tall. Adding the handle height adds 3/4” folded 2-5/8” when the handle is raised for carrying. WEIGHT- 11 Pounds 5-1/2 Ounces (No Battery) SHIPPING- I'll mail your radio promptly. My goal is to mail the same day as Bonanza notifies me that checkout is complete. The cost you pay for mailing is the exact same as the postage costs.
