This sale is for 2 volumes of poetry, one by Robert Browning and the other by Elizabeth Browning. The publisher is Thomas Y. Crowell Company, New York and Mr. Browning's volume is dated 1896. Mrs. Browning's volume is not dated but both bindings are identical. Both measure 7"x4 1/2"x1/2" in soft leather boards colored burgandy brown with gilt lettering on spine and cover and a gilt top edge. Both have bumps and rubbing especially around the edges. Mrs. Browning'svolume has a somewhat loose front cover. Mr. Browning's copy has some fading of the spine and cover and abraided leather at the top of the front cover. They are titled: The Poems of Robert Browning with a Biographical Sketch by Charlotte Porter and Helen A. Clarke The Complete Poetical Works of Elizabeth Barrett Browning with a Prefatory Note by Robert Browning.
