#MEIAZKA Scabiosa, also known as Pincushion Flower is native to Europe, Asia, and Africa. This perennial flower is commonly grown in borders, along walkways, in cut flower gardens, and in containers. It does well in full sun and attracts pollinators. It is a great choice for the middle of borders or mixed containers. Where to grow? Scabious should be grown in full sun, but will tolerate partial shade, in moist but well-drained soil. Soil pH 6.5 to 8. Scabiosa range in height from 15 to 60 cm. How to care? 1. Some taller scabious plants may need staking. Deadhead plants regularly to encourage more flowers and extend the season. In autumn you can collect seed and cut plants back, or leave seedheads in place for the birds. 2. Scabious suffer little from pests and diseases. In hot summers they can be affected by powdery mildew. Remedy this by mulching around plants with well-rotted organic matter, which helps seal in moisture around the roots.
