He began composing seriously in 1908 and over the next four years he produced around 120 songs. In 1914 he joined the faculty of the Vienna Music Academy, becoming the director of the school in 1922. From about 1927 on, he relinquished teaching duties to return to composing and serving as a music critic for several newspapers. After WWII, he focused on chamber music rather than orchestral works. During WWII he conceived and began to execute a modern presentation of composers' works from the past. The copy for sale is from the series "Music for Wind Instruments by 18th Century Masters."
