Vintage original 27x41 in. US one-sheet poster from the classic 1980's sci-fi drama, E.T. THE EXTRA-TERRESTRIAL, released in 1982 by Universal Pictures and directed by Steven Spielberg, in which a troubled child (Henry Thomas) summons the courage to help a friendly alien leave Earth and return to his home world. This poster was issued for the film's 1985 US theatrical re-release that was also distributed by Universal Pictures and the image is identical to that of the original 1982 release one-sheet. The design of this poster features one of the most recognizable movie poster images from the 1980's and depicts the outline of the arm of E.T. reaching out to touch the fingertip of his Earth-bound friend, Elliott (Henry Thomas), which are outlined by various stars in space with a shot of the Earth below. Unrestored and folded as originally issued, this vintage original one-sheet is in fine- condition with a light additional foldline; various small creases scattered across the poster from handling over time; light signs of wear around the center crossfolds; and one set of staple holes in the borders near each corner. There are no pinholes, tears, stains, or other flaws. As a point of reference, the original 1982 release one-sheet currently sells for around $175 in fine-near mint condition.
