Paper size of this photo print is 2 3/4" x 4 3/4". On unmarked standard print paper. This print was very likely made soon after it was taken and likely at Saipan itself or on a ship there. This came to me as part of a group identified as being Saipan and included was a shot of the base Chapel which confirms it. The exact date was not noted and as the island is listed in Guinness as being the most consistent climate we can't really tell what time of year this is. A very historic semi-panoramic shot showing most of if not all of one of the semi-permanent Naval installations at Saipan from high ground looking out upon the ocean. You can see any number of vessels anchored in the water. I've looked it over with a loupe and it is too broad to expect to make out any people but you can see what are likely vehicles on the roads. There are some round dark spots in the sky and maybe someone was practicing AA fire, hard to think what they would be otherwise however I do not think there is any chance this is an actual combat shot.
