Vintage Rachel Gera Brooch Pin 1984 Israel Modernist Gold Harp Judaica Abstract Art Mid Century Modernism Israeli Brutalist Jewelry Artist Musical Instrument Lyre Musician Music Lover Orchestra International Designer Sculptural Goldtone Metal Artistic Three Dimensional 3D Design This is a beautiful gold tone Brutalist Judaica Harp brooch by Rachel Gera. This brooch is signed on the back and dated by the artist “RACHEL GERA 84” for 1984, the year she was commissioned by the State of Israel to create this piece. This bright and textured brooch depicts a musical instrument, the harp, which represents joy. Rachel Gera’s jewelry has been worn by many celebrities, including Elizabeth Taylor. She was born in Israel and went to Jerusalem’s Bezalel Academy of Art. The Harp brooch is gold tone metal with a blue bezel set faceted rhinestone. It measures approximately 1 inches by 1 inches. The surface of the brooch is two different textures, one side is smooth, and the other has a raised nugget like surface with four bars representing the strings of the Harp. The Harp is associated with King David, as a young man he played the Harp to sooth King Saul. It is is great vintage condition as you can see by the enlarged photographs. It has a straight pin roll over closure which is secure and works just fine. The gold tone metal is nice and shiny. There are no defects to the metal on the front, any marks are reflections. There is a tiny dark spot on the back about the size of a pin point. You can’t see it without magnification (see arrow in picture), but I wanted to point it out. Please look at the photos as they are part of the description and show the details better than I can describe. This would make a unique gift that is sure to be a conversation starter. It would look great for a dressy evening out, or for a casual day of shopping. It is truly a miniature piece of artwork. It would make a lovely gift for Hanukkah and would delight any music lover.
