Prominent news stories include: Huns retire on 50 mile front - Officials say the whole hope of Germany is to prevent disaster before winter; British and Americans continue to pound enemy; Condition: 8 pages, complete and intact. Very good condition, with small open tear on pp. 5-6 only effecting portions of two display ads. Comes folded or rolled, depending upon existing fold lines. Comments: World War I (WWI), also known as the First World War, was a global conflict fought between two coalitions, the Allied Powers and the Central Powers. Fighting took place throughout Europe, the Middle East, Africa, the Pacific, and parts of Asia. One of the deadliest wars in history, it resulted in an estimated 9 million soldiers dead and 23 million wounded, plus another 5 million civilian deaths from various causes. Fighting ended with the Armistice of November 11, 1918, while the subsequent Paris Peace Conference imposed various settlements on the defeated powers, notably the Treaty of Versailles.
