Newspaper: Wabash Daily Times Star, Wabash, Indiana. Date: October 10, 1918. Prominent news stories include: Beruit falls to British army; Rumor Kaiser has abdicated; Steamer Ticonderoga reportedly sunk by German submarine; German anti-tank gun and useless bullets; Germans depressed knowing defeat awaits them; Local Wabash football "off again" due to State Board of Health order. Condition: 8 pages, complete and intact. Very good to excellent condition, with minimal wear as shown. Comes folded or rolled, depending upon existing fold lines. Comments: World War I (WWI), also known as the First World War, was a global conflict fought between two coalitions, the Allied Powers and the Central Powers. Fighting took place throughout Europe, the Middle East, Africa, the Pacific, and parts of Asia. One of the deadliest wars in history, it resulted in an estimated 9 million soldiers dead and 23 million wounded, plus another 5 million civilian deaths from various causes. Fighting ended with the Armistice of November 11, 1918, while the subsequent Paris Peace Conference imposed various settlements on the defeated powers, notably the Treaty of Versailles.
