Descripción del Artículo

This MOROCCAN RUG is from Beni Ouarain tribe. A Moroccan Berber Rug traditionally woven by the nomadic tribes of Morocco out of knotted wool. It is one of the most traditional and well-known styles of rugs in North Africa. Moroccan Berber Beni Ouarain Rugs are considered to be among the most prominent representatives of contemporary rugs in this region. History of the Beni Ouarain Rugs: Beni Ouarain Rugs were originally hand-woven by Berbers in Morocco. The tribes would carry their goods with them when they traveled. When they arrived in a new settlement, they sold the goods and traded the lambskins for new wool. With this wool, they wove rugs for their own use and also to sell to other people who came to their settlements. These original Moroccan Berber Rugs were simple in design and functioned simply as an overlay on top of another piece of furniture or garment. As mentioned above, these rugs are made out of hand-spun hand-knotted wool. These rugs, like every other type of rug in our store, are generally made to make an aesthetic statement or to make their owner feel comfortable. RUG DETAIL : ? Dimensions: 248 x 148 cm (8.14 x 4.86 ft) ? Weight: 9 Kg (19.84 lbs) ? Material: Wool (100% sheep wool) ? Shape: Rectangle ? Tribe: Beni Ourain ? Condition: Newly made. Clean and ready to Designs / Patterns on the Moroccan Beni Ouarain Berber Rug: The most common designs on these rugs are geometric, though floral patterns are also prevalent. The patterns are most often done in red, blue, white or black. The tone of the wool that they use is generally creamy white or light brown. They weave the wool into different shapes that include squares, rectangles and triangles. The pattern is generally woven into the border area of the rug. The colors may be subdued or they may be bold and vibrant. They also make these rugs in a wide variety of sizes. Visually, Moroccan Berber Rugs give the impression of a flat woven rug because the weaves are done horizontally instead of vertically. The weft and warp yarns go side to side and diagonally, instead of up and down like most other rugs. There is also no pile on this type of rug; instead, they are all made with knotted wool strands on top of each other. This gives the appearance that the rug has no backing at all or that it is woven out of one single piece (instead of having multiple pieces).
