Descripción del Artículo
Vintage original 11x14 in. US lobby card from the crime drama/thriller, THE CHASE, released in 1966 by Columbia Pictures and directed by Sam Spiegel. The escape of Bubber Reeves (Robert Redford) from prison affects the inhabitants of a small Southern town. Marlon Brando, Jane Fonda, E.G. Marshall, Angie Dickinson, Janice Rule, Miriam Hopkins, Martha Hyer, Richard Bradford, Robert Duvall, James Fox, Diana Hyland, Henry Hull, Jocelyn Brando, Katherine Walsh.
The image features an exterior nighttime shot of Anna Reeves (Jane Fonda) and two men frantically scrambling up the side of an embankment at an auto junkyard. It is unrestored in very fine condition without any tears, pinholes, creases, stains, writing, or other flaws.
Producer
Sam Spiegel had acquired the property this film was based on in the 1950's and
originally wanted Marlon Brando to play the role of Jason "Jake"
Rogers and Marilyn Monroe to play his lover, Anna Reeves. By the time
production began in 1965, however, Brando was too old to play the role of the
son and took the part of Sheriff Calder instead. Brando was paid $750,000 and
his production company, Pennebaker, was paid a fee of $130,000 (Brando's sister
Jocelyn also was cast in the small role of Mrs. Briggs). Brando did not like
the part of Sheriff Calder and complained that all he did in the picture was
wander around. He began referring to himself as "The Old
Lamplighter."
