The Dragon Fruit is a cactus with fleshy stems that grows somewhat like a vine. The flowers which grow very large, (up to 12 inches across) and are quite fragrant, grace the plant in late spring to early fall. Flowers are elaborate and bloom only at night. After pollination occurs, red colored, edible fruits appear. The spectacular round fruit is covered with attractive green scales.
