Vintage original 8x10 in. US single-weight glossy photograph from the 1940's crime drama/romance, THE MAD DOCTOR, released in 1940 by Paramount Pictures and directed by Tim Whelan. A crazed physician (Basil Rathbone) marries a wealthy women and, with the help of his demented assistant, murders them for their money. The cast includes Ellen Drew, John Howard, Barbara Allen, and Ralph Morgan.
The image features a very atmospheric publicity shot of Linda Boothe (Ellen Drew), lit from a high angle as she rests her head against the shoulder of Dr. George Sebastian, AKA Dr. Frederick Langamann (Basil Rathbone), who is hidden in the shadows directly behind her. Rathbone's classic profile is immediately recognizable in this image. It is in very good+ condition only with a small tear on the top left corner and on the right border; small creases and signs of wear in the borders; and some scattered creases in the image area from handling over time. The image quality is very sharp with fine detail and beautiful contrast.
